The Eastern and Southern Africa Leather Industries Association (ESALIA) was established and registered in 1995 to promote the interests of the Regional Leather and Footwear Products Industry in the countries of Eastern and Southern Africa, namely, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and any other country in the region that expresses interest in joining the Association. The formation of ESALIA was possible after the strengthening of the national associations during the UNIDO Africa Leather Programme. |
